Welcome our New Pastor and his family Tom and Laurie have been blessed with an international family. They adopted their children, Jacob and Arianna, from Peru in the early 1990’s. God used their time in Peru to touch their hearts for cross-cultural missions. At the time Tom had been an optometrist for many years and Laurie worked as an opthalmic assistant. After being bit by the “missions bug” they sold their home and packed up for missions training at LBI/Trinity Lutheran College in Seattle. The LBI experience fueled Tom’s thirst for additional study and so he went on to doctoral studies in a Doctor of Ministry program at Eastern Baptist Seminary in Wynnewood (Philadelphia), PA. This was followed by study at the Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology in Nairobi, Kenya. Tom then finished his Masters of Divinity at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary in Dubuque, IA. After completing his Masters he went on to additional doctoral studies in missions at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN. Ministry experience has included serving as residence life directors at LBI, student pastoral ministry at St. Mathew Lutheran in Dubuque as well as an ELCA internship while in Bolivia at La Trinidad Church in Cochabamba, Bolviia. Most recently, Tom has been serving in Bolivia training Latin American missionaries as they prepare to serve in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. In addition, he has been working with congregations and pastors throughout Bolivia, mobilizing the Bolivian church for missions. Jacob and Arianna have just finished high school and now Tom and Laurie are on a leave of absence from WMPL while they help Jake and Ari re-adapt to US cultura and begin the next phase of their lives.

Marks of Discipleship
